Bhubaneswar: The BJP Mahila Morcha on Monday alleged that the State police are not accepting the FIRs relating to atrocities against women being lodged at police stations across the State.

Mahila morcha president Pravati Parida in a press conference after the culmination of party’s 11-day Mahila Suraksha Yatra, said that as many as 272 police stations in the State did not accept FIRs.

The police are working for the ruling party so they did not accept the FIRs on crime against women, said Parida.

The members also criticized the ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ campaign of the Odisha Police against child sexual abuse.

“We had visited 147 Assembly constituencies covering a distance of 10,546 km. we have also conducted 213 roadside meetings. Pada Yatras were also conducted at 273 places. In meetings, we have interacted with 3,60,000 women,” said Parida.

She also said, “We have received complaints against 272 police stations during the visit.”

A memorandum in this regard will be given to the President and the Governor soon, she informed.
