Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched “Mo School” campaign here on Tuesday while addressing school children at Capital High School on the eve of Children’s Day.
Patnaik dedicated an initial corpus fund of Rs 100 crore for ‘Mo School’ campaign, an initiative to make pass out students an active participant in the development of their schools.
Maintaining that each one of us has got an emotional attachment to the school we have studied and want to contribute to the development of our school, Patnaik said ‘Mo School’ campaign will promote and facilitate volunteerism to give back to our alma maters.
The CM was addressing students here at the State-level Children’s Day celebration at Capital High School here.
Many of you want to donate something to your school, put up a science labs or library, provide scholarships, volunteer your time to teach students and promote sports in schools, the CM said.
“I commit that whatever is contributed in terms of funds for developing our schools, the State will contribute double the amount. I announce an initial corpus of Rupees one hundred crore for this initiative,” announced Patnaik.
The CM announced Rs 5,000 scholarships to 40,000 school students every year each, for scoring good marks in HSC board examinations. The CM also announced that Rs 5,000 prize money will be given to 10 students each in every block who will score good mark in Odia.
Patnaik also announced cash award of Rs 1 lakh for best three schools in each block during State-level Children’s Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar. The cash award will be distributed among the teachers.
