Puri: DGP KB Singh has suspended the police official, who reportedly attempted to touch Devi Subhadra’s idol on Pahandi during Niladri Bije at Shree Jagannath Tempe in Puri recently.
The suspended officer is Amulya Dhar, IIC of the Boudh police station.
“Amulya Kumar Dhar, IIC Boudh police station has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for violation of High Court orders. Dhar attempted to touch Devi Subhadra’s idol during Niladri Bije. He will remain under the disciplinary control of SP Boudh during suspension,” said Singh on Saturday.
Notably, after the allegation of Dhar touching the deity during the ‘Pahandi’ ceremony surfaced, the SJTA had handed over the case to IG (Central Range) to conduct a detailed investigation into the allegations.
Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi submitted his inquiry report to the DGP on the allegations and recommended for suspension of the accused cop. Following which, the DGP suspended the Boudh IIC.
