Rourkela: Tension prevailed after an elephant trampled a woman to death at Kapisanga village under Kopasinga range of Rourkela forest divison in Sundargarh the wee hourson Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Padma Munda of Kapisanga village.
According to reports, Padma was asleep in her home when the pachyderm trampled the woman to death.
Locals staged road blockade demanding adequate compensation to the deceased’s kin.
The villagers have also demanded strict vigil on the movement of elephants in their locality.
On information police reached the spot and were trying to pacify the irate locals.
