Bhubaneswar: Due to heavy rain causing flood situation in Rayagada district, Railway Bridge Number 585 between Theruvali and Singapur Road Railway Stations in Titilagarh-Rayagada Railway Section washed out today. Alert Gangman stopped the approached goods train which was supposed to pass on this bridge and averted the accident.
As a result, train services have been controlled, short terminated and cancelled today
While Jagadalpur-Howrah Samaleswari, Visakhapatnam-LTT, Nanded-Sambalpur, Vijayawada-Rayagada Passenger, Nizamuddin-Visakhapatnam Samata, Sambalpur-Rayagada, Sambalpur-Nanded and Raipur-Visakhapatnam Passenger were controlled en-route, Durg-Jagadalpur Passenger, Jagadalpur-Durg Express were cancelled, said an ECoR release.
Similarly, Sambalpur-Rayagada Express will run up to Muniguda and will return as Rayagada-Sambalpur Express from Muniguda to Sambalpur. Services of Sambalpur-Rayagada-Sambalpur Express will remain cancelled between Muniguda and Rayagada from both the directions.
Meanwhile, senior Railway officials rushed to site. Work will start on receding of flood water. Emergency control rooms were opened at Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur/Khurda Road/Visakhapatnam while all DRMs are personally monitoring the situation.
