Bhubaneswar: Madhusmita Patnaik became  the first Odia woman to become  Woman Flight Commander in an International Airlines.

Currently, Madhusmita is a Senior Commander in Air Arabia.

She always wanted to be a pilot for which she had enrolled herself into the elite Odisha Flying Club, but with a lack of aircraft and instructors to her aid, she planned on moving to Texas, US  where she acquired her licence and worked two years as a instructor there.

Later, she joined the Air Deccan in 2004 as a co-pilot and worked in Kingfisher Airlines and joined Go-Air as captain for five years before moving to Air Arabia.

Originally hailing from Berhampur, she later shifted and worked in Kingfisher Airlines and joined Go-Air as captain for five years before moving to Air Arabia.

Madhusmita proved that nothing is impossible in life and with will and determination women can also fly in the sky and she literary proved it.
