Angul/ Nayagada: Despite all efforts on the part of the government to guarantee safety and security of the girl child, the incidents of abandoning infants continues unabated in the State. In latest instance, two abandoned newborn girl children were rescued from Angul and Nayagada district respectively today.
According to reports, one Anil Shetty of Kueo area in Angul district while he had gone bear a canal to attend nature’s call found a baby girl lying abandoned near the canal. Following which he rushed the baby girl to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
The doctor treating the baby girl said that the infant is 2-3 days old and she has been admitted to the NSUI. The doctors said that the newborn is kept under observation in NSUI at the DHH.
Similarly, an ASHA rescued a two-day baby girl from the veranda of the veterinary hospital near Godipatna in Ranapur in Nayagarh district. The rescued newborn is now admitted to local hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, police have informed about these abandoned babies, who have launched probe in respective districts in the matter.
