Bhubaneswar: In a bid to encourage girl students and women to take up technical education and skill development, the state government has launched ‘Sudakhya’ initiative.

The prime objective of the initiative is to enhance the technical skills of the women besides creating employment and self-employment opportunities for them.

The two year programme which will run in 2017-18 and 2018-19 will focus admitting at least 500 girls student in the 48 state-run ITIs in Odisha.

Under the programme, the women and girl students, who have cleared class X examination, are eligible to get admission into the technical courses like ITI.

Students, who have cleared class VIII exam, can also enroll into the course under the programme depending upon the trade.

The state government is targeting to increase the number of girl students to 30 percent in the government ITIs during these two years.
