Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, newly-appointed Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to hit the campaign trail with brother and party president Rahul Gandhi in Odisha in the last week of February.

On January 23, Priyanka took charge as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh thereby entering into the politics directly.

“AICC president Rahul Gandhi will visit the State in the last week of February. The place and date of the visit have not finalised. Priyanka Gandhi is likely to accompany Rahul ji,” informed Odisha Pradesh Congress president Niranjan Patnaik.

Patnaik said that the OPCC has written to the AICC requesting a visit of Priyanka Gandhi to the State along with Rahul.

With just a few days left for the elections, the Congress chief had already hit the campaign trail in the State. He had visited the State twice on January 25 and February 6 and held three public meetings at Tamando in Bhubaneswar, Bhawanipatna and Rourkela where he came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on different issues.
