Jajpur: Ten students, including six tribal girl students of Sourika High School, here are preparing for the matric exams, which are scheduled for the next month. However, these students are facing many financial problems due to which they are not able to afford test papers and geometry box, which are essentials for them for the ensuing annual examination.

Reportedly, the student even struggle to buy notebooks and pen for their revision works.

Notably, the parents of the student are all daily wage labourers who work hard to earn livelihood. The students in chocked voice said that could ask money from their parents as they see how much their parents struggle to provide them food.

Even though eight of the students belong to dalit family, they don’t know about the Tribal Student Scholarship.

Under the Tribal student scholarship, the girl students and boy students are eligible for Rs 280 and Rs 240 monthly scholarship respectively from Class VI, while Class X girl student are entitled with Rs 320 and boys with Rs 280.

The students have also given Rs 500 for their form fill-up as they didn’t have their caste certificate. The students said that it was huge burden for them.

On the other hand when the principal was questioned, he said that he knew about these students’ problem, but only to blame them. He said that the student had not provided them with their caste certificate.

In the incident more girl students were affected, which indicate’s that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship programme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme has failed miserably.
